After the Cannes Film Festival one of the oldest and biggest film festivals in the world, Pakistani-Canadian film In Flames was also presented at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Toronto International Festival started on September 7 this month and the festival continued till September 17 and the Pakistani film was presented on September 14.
Thanks to the unique storyline, the Pakistani-born film producer’s film was also nominated for the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the Toronto Film Festival but failed to win the film award. The ‘People’s Choice Award’ was won by an American film, while two Indian films also won awards at the Toronto Film Festival.
Dozens of films from other countries including India, Pakistan, Canada, America, Great Britain, Germany, and France were presented at the Toronto Film Festival for 10 days and various events were also organized during the festival.
The Pakistani-born Canadian producer’s film ‘In Flames’ presented at the festival was also presented at the French Film Festival ‘Cannes’ held in May this year.
Directed by Canadian-Pakistani filmmaker Zarar Khan, the story of ‘In Flames’ revolves around a mother and daughter who face difficulties and problems while moving on with life after the death of the male patriarch of the house.
There is no glamor or song in the film, its story is kept very simple but full of art which compels the viewers to stay connected with it.
The story of the film was also been written by Zarar Khan and he directed it, the entire shooting of the film took place in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, and most of the actors in its cast are also from Sindh.
The main actress of the film is Bakhtawar Mazhar Palijo, who is the sister of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senator and former Sindh Culture Minister Sasi Palijo.
