Former popular hero, actor and TV host Saud Qasmi has revealed that Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja are his relatives. The actor recently appeared on the ‘Nader Ali Podcast’, where he opened up for the first time and revealed that his entire family follows religious teachings.
The actor said that his father, Maulana Qari Zahir Qasmi, was the person who recited the Holy Quran on the radio before the announcement of Pakistan on 14 August 1947, after which Radio Pakistan was announced for the first time on the radio. It was told that now a new country has been formed.
He said that his uncle Qari Shakir Qasmi won the international recitation competition while his younger uncle Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi is also a well-known naat reciter. Saud said that his elder sister Qaria Zahra Noorani also won the women’s recitation competition at the international level and recited Arabic naats which became popular worldwide.
The actor said that his entire family follows religious teachings while his elder brother is also a reciter who is currently living in America. Saud said that his family still prays to him for acting instead of reciting naat-khwani, that God will grant you success.
When asked about marriage, he replied that his marriage with actress Joyria was an arranged marriage, there was no love between them before. According to her, her elder sister liked Joyria and told her that she was acting in the Pakistan Television (PTV) drama ‘Anna’, on which she had seen her acting.
He said that he sent people four times to Javeria’s house for the relationship. According to him, the late Amjad Sabri, actors Rainbow, Shaan and then Sindh caretaker minister Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz were among the people who went to talk about their relationship.
Saud said that their marriage was 100 percent arranged marriage and they got into a relationship in such a way that they tied themselves with a rope, from which it is impossible to escape. Talking about showbiz, he said that possibly there will be a second season of ‘Baby Baaji’, but he has no knowledge about it.
Saud said that it is his personal opinion that there should be a second season of ‘Baby Baaji’, as the ending of his drama has been left unfinished. ‘Baby Baaji’ was aired on ARY Digital a few months ago, starring him along with his wife Jawaria Saud while Sunita Marshall and her husband Hassan Ahmed were also part of the cast.
Speaking further in the program, Saud Qasmi revealed that Bollywood actor Adnan Siddiqui is his distant relative. He said that his cousin who lives in India is married to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s sister.
Similarly, he revealed that the cricketer Usman Khawaja, who plays in the Australian cricket team, is also his relative and both have played cricket together in childhood.
