Aamir Khan, who is called Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, has announced to make a joint film ‘Lahore 1947’ with actor Sunny Deol, who played the role of Pakistan enemy in films for the first time. In an Instagram post by Aamir Khan Productions, it was confirmed that the film titled ‘Lahore 1947’ will feature Sunny Deol and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
Although the statement confirmed the partnership of the three personalities, it did not specify when the film will be released and which actors will be included in its other cast. There is no explanation in the post that Aamir Khan himself will appear in ‘Lahore 1947’ or not? However, it is likely that he will be seen working in it himself.
Aamir Khan has also acted in a few films based on the story of the partition of the subcontinent while Sunny Deol has also appeared in other similar films including the ‘Ghadr’ series. However, Sunny Deol has generally acted in Bollywood’s propaganda, anti-Pakistan films on the subject of the partition of the subcontinent, while Aamir Khan has generally appeared to play neutral roles.
Although it is not clear what the story of ‘Lahore 1947’ will be, the name suggests that the story of the film will be based on the subcontinent and the film will mostly show the old days of Lahore, the capital of Punjab, the largest province of Pakistan. This will be the first time that Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol will work together for any film, the two have always fought over the release of their films.
Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol started their film careers almost at the same time and released films in both cinemas simultaneously, in the year 1990, when Aamir Khan’s ‘Dil’ was released, Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghail’ was released. Similarly, Aamir Khan’s ‘Raja Hindustani’ was released in 1996, then Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghatak’ was released, and in 2001, Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ was released, then Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghadr’ was released.
Interestingly, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, who directed ‘Lahore 1947′, has directed both the actors’ films. He directed Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s popular film ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’ while he also directed other films including Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghael Aur Ghatak’ and most of his films were hits.
