Sridevi was the first actress in the Indian film industry to receive Rs 1 crore as a fee.
Sridevi, the first Indian actress to earn 1 crore rupees in the Indian film industry, was born on August 13, 1963, in the village of Menamapati in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and made her film career as a child star in the Tamil film ‘Thunaivaan’ in 1969 at the age of 4. Started while making his Bollywood debut in 1972 with the movie ‘Rani Meera Naam’. Sridevi’s father was a Tamil and her mother was a Telugu named Ayyapan and Rajeshwari. Sridevi married an Indian film director Boney Kapoor in 1996, with whom she had two daughters, Jhanvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
Sridevi started her film career when she was just four years old in 1967 with the Tamil film Kandan Karunai. The film ‘Hematwala’ turned out to be a blockbuster and Sridevi captivated the audience with her beauty and acting.
An actress taking such a huge amount as compensation is not considered a big deal in today’s era but in the era when Sridevi demanded Rs. were charging so much and the fees of the actresses were many times less than that.
Sridevi’s most famous films include ‘Mr. India’, ‘Kalakar’, ‘Chandini’ and ‘Tahfa’.
It should be noted that Sridevi said goodbye to the mortal world on February 24, 2018 and took a part of her fans’ hearts with her. In the year 2013, the Government of India honored Sridevi with the Padma Shri award. Sridevi had received five Filmfare Awards so far. Sridevi’s movie ‘Maam’ was released in the year 2017. Sridevi had a long journey in the film world and Maam was her 300th film. Maam was Sridevi’s last film. But he has also played a special role in Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Zero” which was released in 2018.
