PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) admitted the mistake of not including Imran Khan in the video made on the history of Pakistan cricket. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) deleted the new video after social media users and many celebrities faced strong reactions for removing former Test cricketer and all-rounder Imran Khan from a video based on the history of Pakistan cricket. Issued.
On August 14, on the occasion of the country’s 77th Independence Day, a video was posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, which showed historical and memorable scenes related to cricket from 1952 to the present day.
But Imran Khan, the captain who won the only Cricket World Cup for Pakistan in 1992, was missing in this entire video, on which social media users slammed the PCB and demanded an apology. Not only this but great fast bowler Wasim Akram was also very angry at the removal of Imran Khan from the video and called the video a big blow.
Several eminent personalities and social media users, including Wasim Akram, said that ‘Irrespective of political differences, Imran Khan is an icon of world cricket and he developed the Pakistan team as a strong unit during his tenure.’ After facing severe criticism for 3 days, finally, the Pakistan Cricket Board realized its mistake and released a new promo of the history of Pakistan Cricket.
In the new promo, 1992 World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan can be seen lifting the trophy.
Pakistan Cricket Board released a new video on the social media platform ‘X’ and wrote that PCB has started a campaign for the promotion of the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023, a video of which was uploaded on 14 August 2023.
PCB further wrote that ‘as the video was quite long, it was shortened due to which some important clips could not be included’. PCB wrote in the video caption that due to missing important scenes, it has been rectified by uploading a correct and complete version of the video.
In addition to scenes of Imran Khan lifting the trophy in the 1992 World Cup, other memorable moments were also included in the video, including Misbah-ul-Haq lifting the trophy after victory in the Test match in 2016, Nida Dar in 2021 when she became the first Pakistani woman to take 100 wickets. After PCB released a new promo, former captain Shahid Afridi wrote that it is a great promotional video for Cricket World Cup 2023. He further wrote that the services of our heroes in cricket should not be seen as politics.
After retiring from cricket in 1992, Imran Khan turned to politics and in 2018 he became the Prime Minister of the country as well as the Patron-in-Chief of PCB. However, last year in April 2022, a motion of no confidence was presented against him by the opposition, which was successful and he became the first Pakistani Prime Minister to be deposed as a result of this constitutional process.
After the ouster, Imran Khan held dozens of demonstrations and rallies against the government, during which several cases were filed against him and he was arrested in a NAB case on May 9 last year, in response to which violent protests were held across the country. And in the meantime, military positions were targeted.
However, he was released a day later. One of the many cases against Imran Khan is the Tosha Khana case, in which he was found guilty of corruption and sentenced to three years in prison on August 5 this month for five years. He was disqualified and is currently lodged in Attock Jail.
