Nitin Desai, the renowned art director of popular Bollywood films Devdas and Jodha Akbar, was found dead in his film and television production studio, according to the police, he committed suicide due to financial constraints. According to Indian media India Today, renowned art director Nitin Desai was found dead in a studio called ND located in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra, according to initial reports, he committed suicide.
BJP leader Mahesh Baladi says that Nitin Desai was suffering from a financial crisis, his studio is in my constituency, which was suffering from financial crisis for many days and that is why he committed suicide in ND studio this morning. According to a Hindustan Times report, Nitin Desai owed 252 crore Indian rupees and the court accepted the bankruptcy petition against his company last week.
Police say that they are investigating the incident from all angles. According to reports, Nitin Desai committed suicide at 4:30 am on August 2, a police van was also seen entering the ND studios. Nitin Desai’s death is a huge blow to the Bollywood industry. It was his 58th birthday a few days later on August 6.
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar expressed grief over Nitin Desai’s death and tweeted, “So sad to hear the news of Nitin Desai’s death. He was an important part of production design and our cinema community. He acted in many of my films. Worked, his death is a huge loss for the Bollywood industry. Akshay Kumar wrote that ‘OMG 2 trailer will not be released today due to Nitin Desai’s death’.
Nitin Desai is known for creating lavish set designs for Bollywood blockbusters. Prepared sets. He has been associated with the industry for over 20 years, having worked with some of India’s most renowned directors during his career. In 2002, he became a film producer, and later opened his own ND studio in 2005, after which he worked for shows like Jodhaa Akbar, Traffic Signal, and the reality show Bigg Boss. His last project as an art director was the 2019 film Panipat.
