Actress Mahira Khan who played the lead role in the recently aired drama ‘Razia’, has said that in Pakistan, people of every class want a son over a daughter, but in high families, it is expressed in suppressed words. Mahira Khan recently participated in a podcast along with co-star Momil Sheikh and the play’s director Mohsin Ali, where she opened up about the story of the play and the outdated traditions of the society. Mahira Khan said that only a few episodes of the drama have been aired and going forward more stories will come out in it, which people will like.
According to him, the story of the play revolves around the traditions prevalent in the society and the stories have been presented in a very good manner. During the discussion in the program, Mahira Khan said that the first time any girl child’s right is killed is when the parents express their wish that a son would be born instead of a daughter.
He said that in this way, the process of robbing the rights of daughters starts which does not stop and then there comes a time when the girls start thinking that maybe they do not have the right to such and such things. . The actress said that even if daughters are not treated as daughters and only as human beings, there should not be so much injustice with them.
In response to a question, Mahira Khan said that it is common in every class of Pakistan to give birth to a son instead of a daughter. He said that everyone wants to have a moon-like son, everyone wants grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
According to Mahira Khan, sons are preferred over daughters in families of all classes of the country and this thought has nothing to do with any particular class. He said that whether it is a poor family, a middle-class family, or a rich family, sons are preferred over daughters everywhere, however, in rich and high-class families, such things are said in very suppressed words, but there is also such a thought.
Mahira Khan is thankful that she did not have to hear such things when she was about to become a mother and no one in her family expressed any desire for her to have a first son. Similarly, actress Momal Sheikh also said that when she was becoming a mother, no one in her family told her to have her first son.
